5++ Added to my FAVORITES![image error]Even though I have three male characters here, it is NOT a love triangle. Oliver is Skye's twin brother which I just need to include him. Thomas and Curtis make up for the rest of this story as well. You will just have to read to find out how everyone fits.I have no words to describe this book. I could never do it justice no matter how hard I try. This story covers a time span from 2002 up until 2014 then ends with a major cliffhanger.Twins being raised bas [...]

Survival by Rebecca SherwinI was lucky to have an ARC of this book, and I'm so glad I read it.This book is freaking fabulous I loved every minute of it.Skye had a wonderful life. A loving mother and father an older sister and best of all her twin brother Oliver. She just had the perfect life.Until one day it comes crashing down. No explanation was given her father packed up his belongings and left.It was hard living, moving from a wonderful house in a cul-de-sac to a two bedroom flat in a tower [...]

Heart Wrenchingly beautiful!Rebecca Sherwin is an amazingly talented writer who can convey character's true to life emotions and make the reader experience every moment of the story as he flips frantically through the pages till the wee hours of the night. I remember reading her debut novel Second Chance Hero and having the feeling of a warm, salty ocean breeze on my skin all along. Survival leaves a completely different feeling; one of gut wrenching heartache but also one of hope. Skye Jones is [...]

I have read this author’s first novel, which I loved and so was very excited to read this. All I can say is WOW!!! Once again, she did not disappoint! From the first page, this had me feeling all sorts of emotions…anxiety, pity and anger! As the story progresses, you feel ALL the feels, until all of a sudden you feel like you have just taken a bullet!I loved the characters and the way they were written had you right there with them, through it all. Skye is my She-ro! From the first page, you [...]

This is my first read by this author and I totally loved it. I found this to be a beautiful and emotional story. I thought the author portrayed the characters really well. They came across as real to me which I loved. My heart bled for Skye. This is the second book in a row that I've read and thought seriously how much more bad luck can a character take. Thankfully Skye is a strong character.Great storyline. I'm looking forward to jumping into book two. Loved it.

I'm sorry I don't know what happen here.did I not read the same book as everyone else. I felt confused and unsatisfied with the book. There was no connection with anyone in the story, but I like Skye and Thomas' relationship as well as Skye and Curtis'relationship, even though it was an unhealthy one. Maybe I'm being moody and judgey.I just needed MORE.

When I was first approached about reading Survival I was only given the first few chapters of an unfinished manuscript. Realizing that it was a book about boxing, I approached it with no small amount of trepidation. I'm not a fan of men hitting each other for sport, and as a nurse, I've never understood the attraction. Having said that, from the moment I started reading, I didn't want to stop. I could see the beginning of an incredibly powerful story, and I knew I had to follow it wherever it we [...]

Skye Jones was born just a few minutes after her brother, Oliver. And ever since then, those two have been thick as thieves. Even as their family fell apart, the two stuck together, each holding two jobs, saving every penny so they can get away from their drunk of a mother. One New Year’s Eve, Skye is introduced to her brother’s friends. One in particular stood out to her. Cut Throat, or Curtis. One night later down the road, Curtis shows up at her house and takes her away. She learns that [...]

Only once before have I cried because of a book. That book was written by Rebecca Donovan. Maybe it has something to do with the name because, Miss Sherwin, you just made me cry again. Survival is a story of just that, survival. Skye is a twin and finds herself in a life of neglect, alone, lost and scared. She finds a release from that in Curtis, a troubled man himself. She finally finds the love she deserves in Thomas. Is that love everlasting? You need to read the book to know the answer to th [...]

Twisted, Book #1Tomes Rating: 4 StarsTissues Rating: 5 boxesReview:Survival was a solid 4 star read. The book opens with Skye and her twin brother Oliver doing everything they could to escape their mother and poor lives. One night Skye is brought by one of Oliver's friends (Curtis) to a cage fight, and after Curtis assuring Skye her brother will be fine, Oliver is injured and later dies of his injuries. Survival is the story of how Skye needs to pick up the pieces of her life. She starts a relat [...]

OK so as a rule I don't like cliffhangers but in this case I am happy to go with it! This book was a total surprise and i was totally engrossed from the moment i opened it! It is not for the feint hearted that is for sure and if you are looking for a HEA then you may have to wait for a few sequels to find one!Skye has certainly been dealt a bad hand in life and although her childhood was perfect things went to crap pretty quickly after her dad walks out. Her life is turned upside down not once, [...]

I loved this emotionally charged book, even the sections which had me at the edge of my seat, or the sections which I cried my eyes out at. The story makes you feel and grips you like you would not believe. I am not one for books which are full of raw emotion as I read to escape reality and all of its realities. Yet this book was different. I was addicted to reading more to find out what would happen next to Skye, whether good or bad. There are definite 'nooooooo' moments in this book, where you [...]

This is the first book that I have read by Rebecca Sherwin and in a very short amount of time she has managed to make me her fan girl. I immediately liked Skye and her spunky, you can knock me down but I will get right back up attitude and I cried inside for all of the tragedy she went through in her short life. I fell for Cut Throat Curtis right along with Skye and no sooner did I recover from that the author had me head over heels groveling at Thomas's feet. Not one but two smoking hot, sweet [...]

I was lucky to receive the ARC for this book. Truth be told, something about the title got my attention, and I wasn't wrong. This book has everything you'd ever want to find in a book.Personally, I was really able to identify myself with Skye, I'd feel her pain as my own. So many of the emotions and situations she went through made me relate to her. The love part, is another thing that it's amazing!!! I don't want to reveal anything, but I gotta say.Girls, if you're looking for a true heroin, th [...]

Wow, this story sucked me in. This is a story of true survival, Skye continues to lose everything around her, fate twists and rips your heart out as you feel for this young lady. She struggled to deal with what life has handed to her and some how she finds a way to survive. It's a heart wrenching, beautiful story. I didn't want to put it down, and was gutted when it did end. I don't normally read previews of the next book as I prefer to read the whole story as opposed to just a short snippet. Bu [...]

This amazing book left me an emotional wreck. The title says it all, it's the story of one woman's survival through the horrors that life throws her way. The main character Skye is instantly likeable and I felt every emotion right along with her. This story hits you hard, grabs you and doesn't let go. I read it all in 2 days and when I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it over and over. Stock up on the tissues and hold on for the ride. I can't wait to read the next book in the series from [...]

I received this for an honest review and I have to say this book absolutely had me in tears (and I am not a crier) Skye is a very determined young lady who has been given the worst of luck. As a young adult she loses the one person who means the most to her. Her twin brother Oliver. This book just absolutely tore me apart. I have a hard time reviewing this because I don't want to give anything away. This is one of those books that you just need to experience and fall in love with Every time I pi [...]

Read from an ARC copy. Where to start. It's hard to think that real life can be so harsh but for Skye Jones, her life from the age of 18 is pretty tragic. This story really is about Survival. Told with a series of flashbacks, the story covers some harsh topics with directness but not without sympathy to the character. As a reader you wonder how much more Skye can take and just when things seem to being going her way, Sherwin whacks you in the gut with another heartbreak for her lead character. T [...]

Sad story of loss and romance What beautiful storytelling, likable characters with personality. The main character is just so relatable, someone who just wants someone to love her. She has so much tragedy and heartbreak.Good dialogue and a very simple storyline. The pages turned quickly as the author draws you into a sentimental and sweet story.Highly recommend.

Ms Sherwin, you owe me a night’s sleep! Once I started Survival, I couldn’t put it down which resulted me reading through the night just so I could finish it.This story captivates and captures your attention right from the start and holds your focus until the very end!Skye Jones and her twin brother Oliver were forced into living in poverty when their Father left them and their Mother for another woman. Highly Relatable Love Story. Great book about a girl named Skye, who happens to be: Any-girl USA. I enjoyed following her life story from childhood to young adult. It struck me clear as a bell, that Skye is all about family. Give me a person who is all about family, any day of the week, because over the years I’ve come to realize that anybody who is all about family, can not be all bad. I found the love and commitment of this story to be reminiscent of the contemporary romance novels.Fresh aft [...]

Oh my god!! My heart has been ripped out and trampled on and I feel like I need time to grieve for all that I've lost, but even more than that I need to start book 2 of this series! One of the lines in the books says "life is not a fairy tale" and boy, does Rebecca Sherwin set out to prove that to us. Fairy tales have happy endings, Survival, well. However, I'm maintaining hope since it's a 4 book series, there's still time for everything to work out. This book focuses on Skye and her life over a [...]

My ReviewSkye, her twin brother Oliver and their older sister Beth had a seemingly perfect life! They lived in a beautiful house, with a mother who loved them and a father that worked hard to provide for them all. Sounds almost too good to be true doesn't it? like a fairytale of sorts? i suppose that's what this is in a waybut rather like any fairytaleere is always a twist, one day their ''perfect'' father upped and left, he left no reason and suddenly, the world as they knew it. blew up. Well this was me after this book. I was lucky I had book 2 to dive in immediately after. But it left me wondering "what will I do when I finish book 3"?Skye has had to cope with so much in her young life, she is lucky she has her twin brother Oliver. He's her rock and shes his. This is one of those books this is truly about Survival at it's highest. It is so hard to know what to write in this review not to give away the story line because there is so much going on in this book. This is one of those books that is not for reading while you are watching tv or watching the kids. This is a book you get a bottle of wine, box of tissue and curl up in bed and read. It is a deep story one that touched me in so many ways that I can hardly begin to to describe. The bond between t [...]
