The first half, I didn't like the h (runs away from betrothed in the middle of the night, into snow, and he's not half bad, his main crime being that he's boring). The next half, I didn't like the H (pompous, assumptious, high handed boor that the h originally thought him; oh and, noone is 'that' devoted to being a soldier. boohoo). But overall, neither of them was completely unbearable, so solid 3stars.

    2. Griffinyarn says:

A fun bit of light reading. The only complaint I will make is that I had to stop reading several times due to empathetic embarrassment for the heroine.

    3. P. says:

This book is a mess: the heroine is totally dislikable, the hero only makes rare appearances and the plot!! Would there were one.

    4. Bette says:

A Regency romance. Fun characters that fit my expectations of the genre. I want to read more by Ms. Mansfield but my local library doesn't have her books; they are not currently available on overdrive; but I will have to look for other "free" sources as they are out of my price range

    5. Frances says:

      not okay

    6. Diane Bowden says:

What fun!I can almost imagine that I'm reading an unknown Georgette Heyer. Great characters and setting and a delightful ending with three happy couples.

    7. Polo says:

Clean and sweet. Witty. Recommend it to those who want substance and not explicitly.

    8. Beeface says:

Not my favorite but still fun.
