There are a couple of ways to consider this book. One is as a read aloud book for a family. Another is as something for an independent reader. I personally think the prose is a little too simplistic for a good read aloud book, so I'm going to review it based on how it fares as a standalone book for an early independent reader.I'd say the grade level is probably about first or second grade. Fairly simple, straight forward text, easy to understand. Some of the things that would be a hiccup to me i [...]

I wanted to read a story from an author I just discovered (Celesta Thiessen) and since I own several of her books I chose the shortest first. A cute enjoyable book for young readers that introduces them to the concepts of fantasy beyond fairytales. Children love pets so much that this story will appeal to them.

    3. Maisie says:

I think this is a very good book, especially for beginners!

    4. Sue Davis says:

Very Cute Short Story !!! OK for KIDS, TOO 😀Fun reading, even for little kids. Great bedtime story. A magical cat, 2 princes and 3princesses, dragons all form into a sweet story.

cute first book for a new reader

    6. Ashley Lavering says:

OkMy kids enjoyed it some, but there wasn't a real purpose to the story. I kept asking myself, "What's the point? What are they trying to solve?" The best part was the end when nightcat tries to blow fire and gets sparkles. My girls laughed at that.

    7. Francie Humby says:

Delightful Early Chapter Book! The children in Nightcat are interesting and likeable, and young readers will be able to identify with them easily. The plot is unique and exciting. The dialogue is wonderfully natural.

    8. Heidi J. Galan says:

A very interesting bookI wish I had a cat like night cat he was very cool talented and talkative. And how all the characters got a long so well that was kind of hard to believe. But it was a great book altogether.

    9. Heather Amey says:

The best bookI really like this book because it was a book that has lots of suspense and action in it. I would rate this book at 5 diamonds if I could.

    10. Darcy Kay Downing says:

NightcatThis book is a good read. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that it was very repetitive and random. Otherwise, read it

Well written children's story about a cat, dragons and magic. The only negative aspect was that it was very short but it is a wonderful adventure
